The street that leads to the Villa is not easy to find. One has to drive through the village of Certaldo, and, almost at the end of the village, turn into a little street among the houses. From here, the street leads up to the open landscape of Tuscany and offers an incredible panorama: Little hills that softly merge into each other, covered with green fields in springtime and with yellow stubble in summer, wine yards and little dots of woods on the horizon, little streets inter-crossing in the valleys, and single cypresses that remind of secret signs of ancient civilisations.
The ancient villa is situated on the top of one of these hills, surrounded by the nature of Tuscany. The house has a squared structure, which is characteristic for this area, as well as a typical “pigeon tower”. Recently, the villa has been completely restored. A garden surrounds the villa and offers a breathtaking view all around. In the garden, there is also a swimming pool, promising extremely relaxing moments during your stay.
It is at a distance of approximately 3 km from the village of Certaldo, in which Boccaccio, the famous Italian writer of the Middle Ages, was born. In Certaldo, there are various shops, banks, a pharmacy, and a postal office. Montespertoli, the famous town of the wine, is at a distance of approximately 10 km. This little town is certainly worth a visit, if only for the marvellous panoramic road that connects Montespertoli and Certaldo. In all the area, there are excellent restaurants. The major famous cities of Tuscany can be reached easily.
The villa of approx 500 sqm extends on two floors, plus the pigeon tower.
At ground floor, there is a little living room, a spacious lounge, a large dining room, a completely furnished kitchen, a double room with bathroom (with shower), a laundry room, and a WC. Exit to the garden from the lounge, the dining room and the kitchen.
On the first floor, there are 7 double rooms with en-suite bathroom with shower each. The rooms differ from each other in the colour of the walls, the cotto flooring, and the view on the surrounding hills that each room offers.
A spiral staircase leads from one of the double rooms to the pigeon tower. Here, there is an additional double bedroom with en-suite bathroom (with bathtub). The room in the pigeon tower has two terraces on each side, which offer a magnificent view over the typical landscape of Tuscany

This enchanting Villa is situated close to the town of Certaldo .... Tourists who love art and the events of the past will focus immediately on Certaldo Alta, also known as “Certaldo Castello”, because of its altitude and defences. Everybody says that here the clock stopped when warring ceased and a more placid era of peace became established. “Certaldo is a castle placed in our countryside, which, although little, has already been inhabited by noblemen and the wealthy,” says the town’s most famous personality, Giovanni Boccaccio. To this illustrious writer Certaldo consecrates its memory. It is not only the house where he spent the last years of his life, or the library or the statues portraying him that commemorate his life. Walking through the streets, eyeing between the angles of these simple brick houses, between the open spaces and well-curbs, steps and loggias we can almost see some of the characters in the Decameron, ready to tell us a joke or whisper the latest rumour .The construction highlight of Certaldo Alta is the use of brick in all manner of shapes and all shades of red and brown. Drawn from the clays that cover the hills of Val d’Elsa, this ugly but very practical material was used for the construction of simple, basic architecture of clean volumes whether they were homes, churches or forts. Via Boccaccio, the axis of the upper town and taking the place of a main square, gives exactly that impression of unity of matter, from the pavements to the crown of battlements on the buildings.
Apart this beautiful town, you can easily reach San Gimignano, the Tuscan city just as it was built five centuries ago and Siena one of the most typical Renaissance cities in Italy, with narrow winding streets leading up to the Romanesque cathedral set on the highest point of the town and the magnificent Piazza del Campo where the famous ‘Palio’ horse race takes place in July and August of each year.....
