Castiglioncello offers several shops, some very good restaurants and caffès, and a very nice beach - all of which are at their liveliest during the summer months. There is plenty to explore along the coast, from the beautiful old village of Bolgheri on the coastal wine road to the south to the must-see Leaning Tower in Pisa to the north.
Castigloncello town is the heart of Costa Fiorita. International and famous tourist town grants "Elite" holiday and hosts very important personages of politic, culture and actors loving its rocky seaside, the romantic beaches and the luxuriant pinewovds. It is a promontory reaching out into the Tyrrhenian Sea with such impetus that, with a little imagination, it almost seems an island. It is a bathing and climatic resort, covered with pinewoods, sheltered by cliffs and hills right down to the sea with inlets, cover and sandy beaches with rocks. It lies exposed from east to west, on the sun daily route, illuminated and warmed until sunset. Castiglioncello is famous for the school of the Italian Impressionists, who started their excursions from their studying refuge in Castiglioncello. Among those were artists like Fattori, Sarnesi, Abiati, and Cabianca who soon gained world wide reputation for their works.Among the well equipped beaches lies also San Vincenzo with about 3 kms of coast from which a tower, built by the Pisans in 1304, rises which served as part of the coastal protection system against the then frequent pirate invasions. Not far away, it is easy to reach Livorno and Pisa while Volterra is at approx 5 minutes drive
